1.B Short history
This first international Youthwork mailinglist
originated in the Netherlands februari 1996 as a 'spin off' of a regional
IT-project. This project's aim was to link 20 youth-organisations using
-cheap- Fidonet technology. After installing an UUCP-gate, internet was made
available for the projectmembers in using Email, usenet and mailinglists.
June 1997 online messagereading was made available (static
database)
On 22 november 1997 Youthworknet Europe (http://www.youthwork.net ) was initiated by youthworkers in the Netherlands and Belgium. As off this date this mailinglist is -also- in use as an international communication-platform for this European network for social youthworkers.
June 1999 distribution trough the UUCP-gate was changed to Egroups. Online messagereading was upgraded (dynamic database), possibility for chat was added.
